“Intricately woven fantasy pieces with which you can transform yourself.”

Vicky Sarge, Owner, Erickson Beamon

Vanda Leitão was born in Lisbon, Portugal.

Vanda has always been drawn to the creative side of life. After completing a degree in Fashion Design in Portugal, she moved to London to take a second degree, this time in Costume Design at Wimbledon School of Art.

After gaining some experience working as an assistant to a costume designer at the BBC, Vanda was involved in various freelance projects in theatre and television, in London and in Portugal.

Throughout all these years, Vanda has always had a passion for jewellery. So it was a natural progression for her to start to create her own unique style of costume jewellery, incorporating the experience and influences she had accumulated in the worlds of fashion and costume design.

She now produces one-off creations in various styles, including neckpieces, bracelets, brooches and belts. Her eclectic portfolio of components includes restored antique artefacts, old portrait photos from Victorian and Edwardian times, clear resin, glass, beads, vintage velvet and lace, as well as plastic, silver, copper and brass.

Notable clients include the singer Beyoncé Knowles and singer/actress Courtney Love. Vanda’s work has been featured in Vogue, Harpers & Queen and Tatler, as well as The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times Style Section and Time Out. The Sunday Observer Magazine described her necklaces as “show-stopping” and “better than any diamond ring”. Her pieces have also been shown on GMTV and Channel Four’s ‘Faking It’.
